My Word for 2019
Hello, friends!
It has been quite a long time since I sat down to write a blog post. 2018 was a very busy year full of challenges. I have to admit, I am very happy to have gotten through it.
Last winter, I was diagnosed with diabetes. I had no idea how much that disease would complicate my life. It brought along with crazy blood sugar levels and medications that messed with my energy and stole my joy. Digging myself out of the mess was hard, but I learned something. God truly is in charge. I know quite a few prayer warriors who stormed the gates of Heaven for me. God showed up in a huge way to show me that I truly was His beloved child and in His care. My levels are now stable and within normal limits and my joy has returned. He is good! Of Course, being an author, I gave my heroine in Amish Christmas Emergency diabetes, as well. Writing her story was somewhat cathartic, I have to admit.
When I look back on 2018, I am amazed to see all that He helped me accomplish. Through His grace, I managed to write six books and four proposals. I completed the first year of a challenging job and am half way through my second.
Then there are the blessings in my life. My precious daughter graduated high school and is about to start on her dream internship before leaving for college in the fall. My oldest son is a senior. He broke his arm in November, and we thought his last year of wrestling was lost. Not so. He healed in record time and next week may be cleared to return to wrestle for the final month. And my baby is half way through his freshman year. My husband and I celebrated our twenty-first anniversary. God gave me a man who truly supports my writing and is proud of me.
I am so excited for 2019. When I thought about 2018 and what God wanted from me, the word that I kept seeing was GRATITUDE. So that’s my word for 2019. I have added a section into my prayer journal for gratitude. I hope to think each day of 2019 of all the blessings that God has given me and telling Him how thankful His child is for His care and eternal love.
It is nice to hear from you again. Wishing you and yours a new year filled with love, good health, happiness and blessings.
Marilyn
Thank you Marilyn! I wish you the same.
GRATITUDE is a wonderful word for 2019. Having attended a recent “Dine with a Doc” luncheon where the topic was diabetes, I gained a lot of insight into this diagnosis and eating properly to maintain a level blood sugar. My prayers for are with you, Dana.
I’ve enjoyed each one of your books and look forward to reading upcoming ones this year. God bless you abundantly in all you do in 2019.
